I can’t say enough about this guy. He knows his stuff and it is time well spent clicking around his site.  You might want to look at film again for some of your work – fun or serious. Think about it, how much time has those “free” digital images robbed you in Photoshop or ACDSee? Of the 350 pictures you shot this weekend, have you found the 3 images that are any good? I love digital…but…we all need to slow down every once in a while and contemplate the light, not the pixel.

Personally, I am ramping up my Olympus digital system – eventually using an E-520 or E-3 body with Zeiss glass. I have 4 primes that are either 1.4’s or 2.8’s and have optics unmatched by anything anywhere in this class (35 MM or APC sensors for digital). The Zeiss lenses are part of my Contax RTS film system which I plan on using a lot again after I ran a roll of Fujichrome through it a month ago.

I recently acquired a Korona 5×7 view camera from my brother which I will be using for classic black and white window light portraits and urban landscapes in DuPage and Cook counties.

A scanned 5×7 negitive has well over 100 MB resolution. I guess this is what everybody meant when they say “full frame”!

Rob, what an awesome idea! Large format, fine art Portrait Series. When you’re done, I think a showing with LARGE fine art prints at a gallery or coffee house is in order.
